Board Certified & Fellowship Trained Orthopedic SurgeonPatrick N. Siparsky, MD

Dr. Patrick Siparsky is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist focusing on knee and shoulder injuries and problems in patients of all ages. His philosophy centers on providing individualized care for each patient, with the ultimate goal of returning them to all desired activities. Dr. Siparsky possesses specialized training and technical expertise in knee and shoulder arthroscopy, cartilage restoration, ligament reconstruction, shoulder instability, rotator cuff repair, and many other aspects of sports medicine.

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Dr. Siparsky earned his undergraduate degree from Boston University in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He then spent two years working in cartilage and ligament bioengineering at MIT and the University of California San Diego. After completing medical school at the University of Colorado, he pursued an orthopedic surgery residency at the San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program, followed by fellowship training in sports medicine at the Duke University Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship. During this fellowship, he worked with various sports teams at Duke University, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, lacrosse, and more.

Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Siparsky became the head orthopedic team physician at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, serving all athletes from 2013-2019. He then moved to Indianapolis to join Indiana University Health, where he contributed to building the program from a clinical, educational, and research perspective. In 2021, Dr. Siparsky, along with Dr. Josh Everhart, began caring for Indiana University athletes through a new partnership between IU Health and Indiana University. In 2022, Dr. Siparsky was named the Division Head for Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at IU Health.

Since assuming the role of Division Head, Dr. Siparsky has worked to grow the sports medicine team by adding additional specialists. Just as in sports, he believes that to excel in orthopedics, the creation of a well-rounded, highly capable team of doctors is critical to serving all patients. In the two years since taking on this role, the orthopedic sports medicine team has doubled in size, applied for an accredited sports medicine fellowship, and significantly expanded educational and research activities.
